Acorus Calamus was established more than 15 years ago in Pakruojis. A business has grown into a modern plant complying with international production standards. The company's products are sold in all Lithuanian pharmacies and retail shopping centres. Their vision - Acorus Calamus - a producer of high-quality herbal products, a reliable partner in their distribution and sale to the public and an innovative expert in its field, applying the most up-to-date scientific achievements in its activities. Company has 22 employees and 2,5M turnover.

Description of the Challenge #2:

The company is looking for a technology that allows oxidation ("fermentation") of dried herbs. Some types of herbal teas need to be oxidized but the oxidation process becomes challenging after the herbs had been dried. The reason for drying herbs in the first place is that the herbs are collected from various places in the wild nature and dried at the location of collection. Only then they are transported to a factory where they are processed further.

Preferred outcome of the Solution #2:

The sought-after technology should re-initiate the oxidation process in dry herbs and reach oxidation levels to a certain degree. The whole process shall not corrupt the tea-character of herbs. The company is seeking a technical cooperation agreement with a partner who has expertise in food processing, food rehydration or similar. The partner should provide a complete solution to the problem.
